New love... Soul Pancake

So... heard about this book while watching a November favorites video from a favorite youtube guru myeyeshadowisodd. (here's the video)

You know how you are searching for something but you can't quite put your finger on what it is you are looking for until you stumble upon it by accident, but only you know it isn't an accident and you know you were meant to stumble on it?  Well, that's what happened to me when I watched her video and listened to her talk about this book.

I started a gratitude journal a couple of years ago but wanted to do more. A few months ago I bought the perfect book, for journaling, but for the life of me didn't know where to begin. I keep taking the book out looking at it but couldn't think of where to begin. Now I know!  I immediately looked up the book and found the youtube channel and fell in love and knew that I was meant to watch her video to find this book and this channel.

Sometimes the stars just align and the things you have been searching for fall right into your lap, and that's what happened to me. Anyone who knows me, knows that when I find something I like, like really like, I go running with it... it becomes my latest obsession and I have to rave about it and hope it reaches someone who was searching like I was or to someone who didn't even know that they were looking for something like this.

Now this isn't a journal, but I want to use it to inspire my journaling. If you want to read something that gets you thinking about some of life's big questions, and maybe some you  haven't even thought of, and inspires you I say this is it! Give it a try, and see where it leads you.

It's on my Christmas list for sure!

New Kat Von D Lock It Tattoo Foundation Review

So here's a quick review of my most recent purchase. I didn't think I would get a chance to try this out at all until the hubby decided to spoil me (after I mentioned wanting to try it and thought it be a good Christmas gift).

Now I have only been color matched  maybe twice ever.... for Merle Norman cosmetics (ions ago) and for Mary Kay (I wore Fawn foundation) so thought I'd get color matched at Sephora. Was so glad I did too. I have always gone for neutral foundations since my skin tone tends to lean both warm and cool at the same time, but I always was under the impression that I had yellow undertones to my skin. Apparently I don't. I found out, by the awesome sales person who color matched me, that I have peachy/red undertones to my skin and if I wear yellow I could quite possibly walk around looking like an Oompa Loopma and not even know it.... Gah!!! So... thank goodness for awesome sales people who save you from looking like a freakazoid. :)

Anywho, I wear this foundation in Light 48. Perfect match!!! First impression, this went on awesomely! Now it is a bit on the medium/heavy coverage side, which I tend not to mind as I prefer the medium/light coverage to tinted moisturizers mostly during the warmer months and medium/heavy during the cooler months. It covers any imperfections really well without feeling too heavy at all. Doesn't settle into any fine lines, which is a plus in my book. One thing though that I did notice is that, on my skin at least, it looked better the longer I had it on. Better than when I first applied, which makes me love it that much more. But I have yet to find that perfect foundation that looks as awesome on first application as it does after a few hours wear, so still on the hunt for that.

Would I recommend this foundation? Well if you don't mind paying a pretty penny on a foundation ($34), I'd say go for it.... but not sure if I would repurchase, especially if I am able to find something comparable for a cheaper price... I go back and forth between the Kat Von D foundation and my Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme foundation.... incidentally they both do the same exact thing on my skin.

My high? getting color matched and finding out what my true undertones were (BONUS!) My low? the price, $34 that's a little more than I want to spend on something that will run out and need to be repurchased.
A wonderful product but just too pricey for my budget.

Welcome to my crazy world...

Hello....
Not sure how this is going to go but thought I'd start a little place to share my thoughts, randomness, rants, raves, mommy things, and in general anything that interests me or moves me.

Someone once told me that I should have documented my experiences being a former Army wife and now an Army mom... but there is more to me than that. So I guess here is where I begin this new, and strange, journey. Dipping my toes into the water when I really want to jump in waist deep and just enjoy the new experience and take anyone who is interested, in what I've got to say, with me on this ride.

Don't know where this will take me or how far it will go but, like Alice, I am willing to follow the rabbit into the hole.....  Come along.... “If you don't know where you are going any road can take you there”
